This year was a big year for Zovargo. So many new partnerships, programs, interns, and friends were made this year. It was hard to narrow it down to only five amazing moments from 2017 - but here we go:
1) Supporting the Biocom Institute's Festival of Science and Engineering
This is one of our favorite events each year. The families are interested in learning about science, there's lots of energy surrounding this event and a great synergy with the folks at Biocom. We were even able to represent this festival and meet a local morning news favorite, Dave Scott!
2) Frog Conservation School Assembly Programs
In April, in honor of Earth Day, Zovargo wanted to do something big to raise awareness. We had always wanted to partner with another organization that's "in the field" saving wildlife and through a creative collaboration, bring this into a school, reach a large audience, and raise awareness about a species. Thankfully, a local school gave us the opportunity to see this dream through! We partnered with the leading frog conservation group, SAVE THE FROGS! and brought a well-rounded, interactive program to over 600 local students.
3) Living with Animals Exhibit, Museum of Man Partnership
When asked to partner with the San Diego Museum of Man for their Living with Animals Exhibit, we didn't hesitate to say YES! The exhibit focuses on the surprising, unique, and interesting ways we have relationships with animals. Animals can be considered pets, pests, and for some - animals are also on our plates. This exhibit aligns so well with Zovargo's mission and we were thrilled to provide countless programs to museum guests through most of 2017.
4) Girl Scout Multi-Badge Programs
Zovargo is incredibly grateful to be a community partner with San Diego Girl Scouts. We were afforded the opportunity to provide troops from around the County, and girls from several different levels, an exciting whirlwind of a few hours participating in our multi-badge workshops!
5) Granting Wishes!
We were asked to grant a wish for a special boy through the Make a Wish Foundation. His wish was an educational reptile encounter. We brought the reptiles and made sure our wish kid enjoyed his experience with our Zovargo animals. This was a super special day for us to be able to grant his wish!
